A photograph that I like

Hi friends! I will begin by mentioning the author of this famous photograph. It is the photographer Mc Curry, who during the war in Afghanistan, was taking pictures in the Nasir Bagh refugee camp in Pakistan, when he ran into Sharbat Gula, a 12-year-old girl of the Pashtun ethnic group that together with his family tried to escape from the armed conflict.

Mc Curry after taking enough pictures of the Afghan girl, he left; but without knowing his name.

After that, the June 1985 edition of National Geographic, published the iconic photograph on the cover. Starting with some of the most iconic photographs of the great Mc Curry.

Now I will explain why I like this image and what is the impact on me. The most attractive, are his eyes, they give a lot to say. In them I can see the suspicion, the shyness, the mystery of his life. But above all, I imagines her suffering. I see her hunger, her fear, how she and her family try to stay safe. She is a symbol of the refugees.

Her look makes me land, and to think that she is in the same world as me, that wars are not something from another galaxy. They are real. And how many people think that they are things of the they do not have much relevance.

And that, makes me determine what I want in my life. I want to help, I want to change, I want to give. I know in a certain way, that my help will not totally change this society, but it will contribute. This photography made my biggest goals flourish.

I must say that I like several photographs, but this one in particular, besides what I mentioned earlier, is because of the impressive message, the colors, how it can be expressed in a photo. However, you have to have more than a vision superficial. There is more to see, see what the eyes want to show us.

I want to mention that Mc Curry, later returned to Afghanistan and looked for the girl. But she was already a woman, with three children. And that look that was once shy, it was not anymore. There was more firmness, but less hope.
Thanks for reading, bye!
